A QUESTION ABOUT A REMINGTON 513T.

I HAVE AN OLD REMINGTON 513T THAT HAS A REFINISHED STOCK. IT IS NOT A MILITARY MODEL, THE FACTORY SIGHTS ARE MISSING IT GAS A 20 POWER TASCO SCOPE ON IT INSTEAD. THE RIFLE HAS NOT BEEN SHOT IN YEARS. MY QUESTION IS SHOULD I SPEND THE MONEY TO FIND THE SIGHTS AND MAKE IT ORIGINAL OR TO LEAVE IT AS IS? WHAT MIGHT BE THE VALUE AS IS VS WITH THE SIGHTS ON IT?

THE BARREL IS EXCELLENT. THE STOCK WAS REFINISHED AND NEAR 95%, THE BLUEING IS VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR INPUT

Sometimes redoing anything can take away from values.... As far as sights that's all you if you want to hunt them down....

I have one that Ive had for years it had a messed up stock from target shooting with a rosined glove and the original peep sights. I never enjoyed shooting it as much as my scoped rifles, so it now has an EGW rail and a scope and the stock refinished. i decided I didn't need a collector piece i needed a gun to shoot. Only you can decide which you need more.

If you decide to put irons back on it, the original factory rear sight was a Redfield 75 and the front was their smaller globe (I can't remember the model number).

If it's not for sale, what does it matter what its worth. Shoot it and enjoy it. I got mine about 10-15 years ago for $125. The metal was perfect the wood is figured but had a messed up factory finish. It looks good now but it has some fish eyes on the bottom where the guy that sprayed it didn't wash off the stripper good enough. Ive seen these go for $450 or $500 that claim to be perfect. Does yours have the grooved receiver or has it been drilled?

I sold one with refinished stock and metal and a T-10 weaver on it, great bore, for about $650 in 2016

I've seen the correct original Redfield peep sights on Ebay and asking prices at just under $200. I didn't pay much more than that last year for my 513T built in 1940 with USProperty markings which is totally original and in pristine condition ( except for the stock which I'v refinished)

Those are great rifles. My high school rifle team used them when we went to the Navy ROTC range at a local university. I used a 521-T with a front globe site installed. Use the older targets with the larger scoring rings. Not the A-36.

Since the 513T doesn't seem to have a serious value, I don't think there'sanything you do to one is going to make a marked increase in its value.
There are several correct original Redfield peep sights on Ebay right now all of which have pretty healthy asking prices.
If mine didn't have the "US PROPERTY" stamp on the receiver and barrel I'd probably remove the original
Redfield peep and have it drilled and tapped for a scope. I have a World
CLASS 6x-24x Tasco with a fine cross-hair reticle and target dot that I wouldn't mind having mounted on it.
