A PRETTY BARNARD

I am curious to try a Barnard action out, but the rear of the receiver was not really appealing to myself on the Model P. If you put it into a tracker style stock, this rear part just hangs out, and is definitely non flattering.

I contacted Barnard and asked them about this, and in particular if they could slope the rear of the receiver down to the tang area. The answer is yes!!

I am going to find out the final price for this alteration, and may just get myself one. Dont you think it could be intersting?

It will be a dual port right bolt right eject with left port in either shiny chrome or satin.

So the question is out there... Can this Barnard have its looks improved? Well, lets just wait and see on a price for this conversion, and I may just get myself one!

Also, what is the bolt lift like? Is it easy or way to tight for a benchgun. Is there any other ugly issues people see with the Barnard Model P?

Very nice idea.... Have a really good paintjob.. then you dont even realise there is an action in the stock.

You can see with this stock, the rear area of the receiver is covered by the stock, so it is not noticable.

With a tracker style stock, it is a different story! Need a sloping back at receiver so it finishes flush with the stock and does not protrude.

Have a look at a Mastin Trakka stock, it is made to suit the Barnard "P".
Barnard won't sell you an action direct & I can tell you the wait for a custom configeration will be up to 12 months, unless they are about to make another run. I don't think that is likely as they have just finished a run.
