A couple of days ago I awoke to a wonderful spring morning with fog. Without grabbing breakfast, I took one of my drones and headed to a remote stretch of country miles from town where I could enjoy the solitude and grab a shot of the rising sun above the fog layer.
As my Mavic 3 Classic broke free of the fog layer, a most serene view appeared on my controller screen. All I could do was nod my head with admiration at the ocean below and the rising sun greeting a new day over the badlands.
I have always been a fan of flight and as a child I well recall a day some 65 years ago when I watched a hawk soaring in the summer sky and immediately went to the house and asked mom to make me some wings out of grocery sacks. She must have had to fight back laughter as I ran outside and began flapping my arms in an attempt to join the soaring avian, only to feel despair as my wings collapsed as mom knew they would.
I believe that the sky has held a fascination for mankind since time untold and for that little ranch boy of some 10 years old, I was no different.
Although I’ve held a private pilots license since 1977 and been a commercial drone operator for a number of years, the sky still holds that mystique I cannot seem to shake.
Every flight seems like a first and it is an inspirational experience.
Wishing all a fulfilling weekend!
