A new action designed for FTR...

Here is a new action we have in R and D. The Eminence action features a 17-4 SS billet body that will be salt bath nitrided. Will eject a loaded 308 win round with long 200.20x bullets, flat bottom, tapered sides, micro adjustable trigger timing, identical indexed barrel threads and thread pitch diameter consistent within .0015" on any action to action comparison. After many hours in design and FEA testing, we are ready to get into real world testing soon.

Beautiful work, Bryan. I don’t need another dedicated single shot, but count me in should you make a repeater that’s BDL compatible. I hope you sell a ton of them. Thank you

Fill me in on why an FTR action has to be so light,

FTR rifle has to weigh less than 18.18lbs including rifle, bipod, and anything attached to the rifle such as mirage shields, etc.

A HV 30 inch barrel, Nightforce Comp, Seb Joypod, 700 clone action, and a 4.5lb stock, get you pretty close to that number. So if you want a bigger action, you have to sacrifice barrel profile/length.

Tangent: That's why I miss the Kelby 1M so much. It's a rock solid stock that only weighs 3.5 lbs with adjustable hardware.

That might bring into question rigidly and the size of the loading port.
Though you could get rid of the un-needed pic slots in the center and
leave a center I-beam type rib. May take out enough more weight to
cover at least one scope ring ??......Is there a pic of the bottom ??

Just a question.
Why aren’t their suitable weight stocks for FTR?
In Short Range Benchrest it would be unthinkable to carve an action up like this to gain ounces when there are stocks that are made that allows a shooter to get under the 10.5 pound weight limit.
As popular as FTR is, it would seem that some one would see the market potential.

The barreled action is the primary source of accuracy in any Rifle. While Carving one up like this has a certain aesthetic appeal, seems counterproductive to the action‘s primary purpose.

In FTR we are limited to .223 or .308 calibers. Since we shoot primarily at 600 or 1000 yards the majority of us shoot 30 cal 200 grain bullets. It must be fired off a bipod. The recoil from this is substantial. The rifle hops off target on every shot. The rifle needs to be shouldered fairly firmly to achieve acceptable handling and accuracy during the 20 shot record strings. Weight is not necessarily a bad thing. I have McMillan BR stock that I tried specifically to save weight but in FTR it did not handle well at all. Suitable stocks are currently in the 3.5-4.5 lb. range.

Very nice! I'd like to see the bottom as well, if you can. I wonder about those two slots in the tang being a bedding hassle. I'm sure you could fill them while bedding one though.

I recently bedded an Anschutz 2007/2013. That was my first and last of one of those unless they are willing to pay bigly. :D If you're familiar with that action, you know why. PITA with all the slots and holes etc. Worked out in the end but way more labor intensive than I ever thought it would be to get right.

The bottom of the TR action is flat.
That Annie looks like a nightmare to bed!
