A-max bullets forvarmints

I am looking for a bullet with higher BC than the 87 grain Hornady V-max. I was looking at the Hornady 105 grain A-max but I am concerned about terminal performance. I have heard that match bullets are not suitable for hunting because they do not expand correctly. I will be shooting prairie dogs.

Thanks,

Bobby

The splat factor isnt as good with the A-max on pd`s but I hit more past 400yrds with them over the 87`s with my 6br 1:8t. Makes them dead just as good...They really do a number on jack rabbits though. I didnt get to shoot much last year but hope to make up for it this spring. I still will use the 87`s as #1 and save the 105`s for long shoots. I got a few hundred 105 Berger VLD`s I will shot against the A-max for term. performance. Cant wait to get results:D

Vegeta,
PM me with an e-mail address and I'll send you some pics of whistle pigs that I shot with my 6XC with 105 a-max bullets. If I post the pics on here, someone will get sick for sure!!

I like the 75 grain Amax, groundhogs don't ......
300 yards plus.... 22/250 Ackley 28 inch 9 twist.

OK,
You ask. 105 A-Max out of a 6xc. Velocity 2,985fps. Great for weight loss if you're a fat groundhog.:D never had a wounded one. either a clean miss, or a clean kill. Hammer 1&2 are the same animal. Chest shot #1 shows a hog shot chest on. The bullet created so much hydrostatic shock, that all the insides followed the path of least resistance and came out the bullet hole. See the last pic, notice no exit wound.

1shot-- Sure ain't much left to eat on those little hogs....
All the A-max's are stone cold killers....

I will be trying the 105grn A-Max's on ground squirrels on Friday, and I will report back on how they work.
