A-max bullets for hunting

So I finally picked up my 6.5 creedmoor in a T/C Icon saturday. can't afford the dies yet, so I actually broke down and purchased some factory ammo. 140 a-max, hornady. if this bullet happens to shoot well, how do these bullets perform on deer or other game? Are they for target only, or are they still supposed to open up? thanks in advance.

Im shooting a 260AI with the same 140gr bullets and was wondering the same thing if for some silly a$$ reason i dicided to take my 17lbs rifle through the Minnesota woods.

I figured YouTube would have something and this is what I found. It seems this was a 7mm Amax but...

Head shot not representative of bullet performance but was the 123 gr. A-Max from my .264 LBC AR at 58 1/2 yds. 2630 fps at 10 ft. from muzzle.
The "Red Jelly" front quarter was from the 168 gr. A-Max in my 1in13" twist 26" tubed .308 Winchester, 2840 fps MV, at 61 yds. The Deer dropped immediately however the bullet did not enter the other side at all nor exited. I was not available when the guides gutted it so have no knowledge of internal damage. The A-Max makes a great long range bullet due to its rapid expansion but be aware that at reduced ranges it may not be desireable so plan your shot accordingly.

Thanks guys for the first hand info! MrMajestic, nice shooting. that is exactly what kind of info I need. I looked at hornady's info, and they list the 6.5, 140amax as a medium game bullet, but not the 120amax. I think they will both do well. Now I need to get to the range and get it sighted in!!! The test group they shipped with rifle measured 0.54", which they shot with 120amax. hope the 140's shoot just as well, if not I will at least have some brass to start with! thanks.
