I can relate. For home decor, I follow the wife's wants, with the exception of my gun room and the taxidermy/mounts and their display. Works well for both of us, that way.

Moma picks out the colors and I go from there. I do steer her in blending colors though works for us. JMHO

I learned a long time ago that I do not have the same interior "tastes" as my wife. Although when I built my gun room out back, I repurposed some old corrugated tin and the planks from an old cedar privacy fence for the interior wall covering. And she loves it, go figure.

Just recently built a house and have decided even if I had a pink wall or floor, after a little while I wouldn't see/notice it anymore. I stressed over living room floor. Wanted hand scraped hardwood. Wife was falling apart over the expense. I have a textured laminate and now that its done I dont really think about it or notice it

Never been married so thats funny but also from what I have learned from guys who have, its very real. These things remind me Im glad Ive stayed single. I see lots of retired guys with money around my little town but they cant do much. Go to the restaurant for a cup of coffee. The wife is controlling everything.

The thing that gets me is, although I have built houses, including every aspect of the construction, my wife seems to think I am an idiot in this area and will seek a second opinion from some kid at Home Depot, a neighbor, or a girl flipping burgers at Dairy Queen. I'm so whipped, I just roll with it. WH

Yea some of the biggest wastes of time and money came from having to do what a female interior decorator had us do. I remember a bath room that they insisted had to have 13 shower heads. We tried to teach them but NO. When it was done and the water turned on 7 had water dribbling out the others nothing. They could not understand that you needed a bigger water line to run that many heads. The bathroom was on the far side of the house on the second floor no way to get that much water there with out spending a fortune and cutting the house in two.

A good builder is not necessarily a good designer or decorator.
