A Little Help Needed Regarding Iron Sands/Competition

jsn

Are iron sands of any kind legal or illegal in use for any bags used in competition?

I looked up the rules on nbrsa.org and usbr.benchrest.net and all they specify is sand. I couldn't find any other restrictions anywhere else.

Can anyone provide specific links to said rules in order to clarify?

Thanks,

Jeff

Maybe those don't, but I'm pretty sure IBS says "Non-Metalic". This is from my dim memory, so check it out on their site. DW

See IBS website/ download rules page #3, Section II(Definitions) subsection H. (Rests) Par 3 (rear bags) & Par 4 (front bags) .......sand only. Zirconium silicate known as heavy sand IS allowed. NO other METALLIC sand will be used by any competitor.

Thanks. Do these rules apply to IBS matches only, or are all bench rest, F-Class, etc. subject to the same rules?

Jeff

F Class is an offshoot of high power shooting, not NBRSA or IBS benchrest. I think that you will be better off finding and reading the rules for what ever type(s) of competition you are contemplating, rather than assuming uniformity that may in fact not be the case.
