Which version of Solidworks Maker are you guys using? I see they have a PC (on the machine) version and a cloud version. Pros, cons of either?

PC version.

But the PC version is still tethered to the 3d experience online portal so they get ongoing subscription renewals. You can't buy a version outright and keep it on your PC anymore :-(

Probably to defeat the Russian hackers that you used to be able to buy it from. I’m not up on the deal anymore but in the past you could buy just about any software package from them with a “crack“ to use it.

Software as a service / subscriptions is the world we live in. You can thank Adobe for kick starting that years ago, and wall street absolutely loving it.
