A&D-FX120i operation

I just picked up a used scale on ebay. It powers up and does everything it seems like it should. Read the manual, and tried to scroll to the GN option to measure in grains. It is not an option. I have read the manual back and forth, and cannot find the setting. I reset the scale to factory settings and it is just not there. Did I get a version of the scale without it? I could not find any reference to different versions. I am not using the trickler or anything else. Just trying to get it to read in grains. Any help appreciated.

If the previous owner turned off the 'GN' unit, initializing/resetting the balance should have restored any/all units that may have been turned off. Check your manual to see if GNs appear on the list of weighing units available. If not, you can always use grams.

If GNs are on the list of available units...turn off the balance and try initializing again. If you accidently pressed the 'Cal' key during your first reset attempt, you actually cancelled the reset operation.

Ok - I think I figured it out with the help of Adam from Autotrickler. What I actually purchased was the FX120iN model. The N is the designation for the "legal for trade" model. It has certain things turned off and comes with sealing screws for the back. Why they turned off the unit grain is beyond me. Anyway- going to see about returning this, as it was not described as such, and I am really not interested in translating my weights to grams.... There isn't even a N on the unit to denote the difference. Hope this helps the next guy who might stumble across one.

I know this is an old thread but I found it while troubleshooting my own "N" series scale and nearly gave up. While grains comes turned off because it's not a valid NTEP unit of weight you can turn it on. I got my scale used off craigslist for a good deal and I hope this helps others gain entry into what is a relatively expensive tool.

A&D Tech support can walk you through it or I've posted the instructions on the hide in a thread called - FX-120i Setup. I won't post a link as I'm not sure about the rules here but it is possible to enable.
