A Cerus dye job

A Cerus pain in the ass. For a “keyboard cammando” with 30+ years in your trade, (which you have nearly perfected) somewhere along the line you learned how to take responsibility - which doesn’t mean assign fault. It just means that you’ve developed an ability to respond. It’s a skill set. Your work is only surpassed by your character, my friend.

Thanks brother I try....

Not to drop them!!

Little late for that
Will if that's the case, let me get down in the gutter.
I had to have customer send stock back for repair on the nose/forend due to delamination. 20210705_192844.jpg
This is when customer was told that it was my water based dye that caused the delamination, and some smartass comment about being a keyboard commando. Lol
Funny thing is I've never had a problem dying any other stocks.
I recieved the stock back at our club shoot where I opened the box in front of John and Mark.
Piss poor packaging job if you ask me. 1 layer of bubble wrap on stock with it flipping around in a 6x6 box. Lol
I peeled open the barrel channel and said that'll do. Once home upon further inspection I noticed that the repair needed to be repaired. Lol
You can see here where it opened up underneath. 20210826_160522.jpg
So I did what I should've done from the beginning I injected some glue and clamped it myself.
The repaired stock...20210826_133033.jpg
Now I truly do find Cerus stocks beautiful works of art, but I could do without the BS that comes with me doing my job as a fellow craftsman.
33 years spraying coatings, 3 years painting stocks with an extreme eye for detail. I'm always willing to share my knowledge and help coach someone to sucess, and for this I'm a " KEYBOARD COMMANDO " LMFAO

How'd I do??

Beautiful work and a great repair.
What glue do you use to get it down into the crack and make that type of repair? Other than maybe the cyano's I don't know anything thin enough to seep down into a crack.

The lady at the pharmacy about lost her shit when I asked for a thin gauge needle so I could shoot some glue.
She obviously didn't catch the part about me repairing a stock. Lol

6br for a local shooter John Johnson aka @brassman, smithed by Mark Skaggs Long range precision rifles.
Gonna take the high road here and not bust @XCount ballz for talking trash to the customer.
6 coats of dye to bring this rather bland piece of barn wood to life.View attachment 1275719View attachment 1275720View attachment 1275721View attachment 1275722
Yeah, those Ikea stocks can be real pain. Everything shows up in a Big Box all the small parts in a bag that you have to inst. and inlet for. At least Ikea gives me a wrench and a little bottle of glue for a consolation prize and they have a Swedish Bistro and Rest. too. Looks REAL nice and my Customer is very very happy and it shot well right off the bat took me 10. rounds to find the guy a real good starter load. Ya gota love those Brux barrels and the 6mm BR. Thanks for the "Bang Up Job" you make me look good.
