A Burris Story

I have used a lot of Burris optics over the years and for the last 15 years or so I've used XTR2 1.5x8 Tac scopes on my hunting rifles. Lighted center dot with hash marks for distance and also dial up turrets 34 mm tubes. Excellent glass and very low light capable, and capable of very good accuracy to 500 yds. Extremely fast target acquisition. As is my norm, I remove the battery at the end of seasons and put in a new fresh battery as I start checking zeros etc. This year as I went to place a fresh battery in one, the little triangular piece that the battery nests against fell out. I went to the Burris website and requested a Return Authorization and within a very short time had an email with a prepaid UPS label to return it for repair. Can't ask for any better service than that. It got packed and shipped and a few days later I had an email informing me that they had my scope. This model hasn't been made in years as when it originally came out it was really too expensive for the market.

In a week or so I got an email stating that they could no longer repair it, probably not parts is my guess. BUT they offered me a very generous credit toward anything I would like in their catalog. I opted for one of the newer Veracity PH scopes that have the internal ballistics computer, HUD display and input your data , dial top turret to your distance and fire. Sounded interesting so I signed up for a 4x20x50 Veracity PH, after inputting the data, checking at 500 yds, we adjusted data very slightly which I've seen to be necessary in the laser scopes before. It certainly would have killed deer to 500 yds and beyond but I want to shoot small to miss small. I checked it again yesterday and was within 1 inch vertical at 500 yds. I can't ask for anything better than that. The glass is good but what really impressed me was the parallax adjustment, every yardage was spot on and that certainly isn't always the norm on many scopes.

I had an absolutely great experience with their customer service and couldn't be happier, I know most companies will take care of their issues but this was a 20 year old scope. I can't say enough good about them or my new scope.

You are skeering me. I don't even have a clue as to what most of that is, almost like you are getting something from Mars.

I have used Burris scopes for a long time.
My kids still have them on their rifles going on 40 years now.
Still working great.
Unfortunately my scope on my main hunting rifle has gone bad .
The reticle has come loose .
Its now a paper weight since Burris cant fix it and they don't offer any thing even close in their currant line up.
Its an older Fullfield 2 1/2 power shotgun scope that has spent its life on my short barreled 30/06 . :(
Was going to revert back to open sights but I misplaced the front sight .

You might be able to get it repaired at one of the general scope repair houses, since you say it is only a loose reticle.

No, they asked as to date etc, but my answer was that I wasn't sure becuase I have 3 of them and had no clue which is oldest/newest. I just picked a date in the middle.
