A buncha questions....

garandman

Bolt Gun Bodacious
As I get serious about accuracy and brass prep / sizing, a bunch of questions come up....

1. Do you wet tumble your match brass?

2. What sizing lube do you use?

3. Neck size or FL ?

Reading here and elsewhere there seems to be alot of different answers. Mostly, I want to avoid doing anything stoopit.

My application is 6mm Dasher, Peterson brass.

Thx.

Dry tumble the majority of the time. (I use wet for inspecting very dirty or unknown range brass.)

Imperial or One Shot depending on the batch size and purpose.

FL, but I use neck sizing to fully form the brass to the chamber at first, then body die to maintain shoulder and body diameter, then various methods including the Lee Collet die, bushing dies, and mandrels.

Never tumble, Might or might not clean the outside of the necks. I do most of the time. Never the inside.
never clean primer pockets
I use a synthetic grease. FAA approved for use in aircraft. Been using the same quart on my GS bench and loading bench for 25 years.

FL size every time.

I dont compete, nor am I a champion at anything, but you asked.

No tumble at all. Just clean carbon off necks, brush the inside once, & scrape the primer pockets with a crocogator.

Imperial (Redding) Die Wax & dry neck lube

Partial FL... not necessarily set-up like the die's instructions say until I know where easy chambering happens.

I like my brass clean before sizing, so if it looks dirty(hunting, shooting suppressed) I tumble wash no pins.
I use one shot for small cartridges, up to 22-250. Imperial for forming, necking down. RCBS lube and pad for everything else.
FL size, universal decap and mandrel for I.D. necks most. I do have a couple expanders that I sanded down to the correct size, sometimes use them to save time. Not a competitive shooter, but like to shoot well. Hate missing.
