I would like to thank Terry B. for barreling an action for me at no cost. He was paying it forward to first responders and I took him up on his generous offer. I shot it today for the first time breaking in the barrel. Conditions were less than ideal with a 17-20 mph winds at nearly 90 degree angle to the targets. The groups were fired from a Harris bipod with out the aid of a rear bag at 130 yards. I was very please with the results this gun is going to be a shooter for sure. I had to have the bipod well above the ground due to tall grass so that made shooting unsteady, and with out the rear bag even more so.
Every thing I shot through it grouped about .62" at 130 yds. I could tell my set up was making the groups bigger than they would have been. When I pulled the trigger the bullet struck exactly where the cross hairs were. I have no doubt this thing from a proper set up will shoot bug holes. I hurried this up and probably did Terry a big disservice in doing so however I weighed that with the desire to thank him publicly for his work. After shooting the paper targets I was riding the ATV home and was 455 yards from my steel plates and decided to rip 5 shots off at the steel. Having no dope for the rounds which were 55 grain Z-max bullets and Varget powder. I dropped down prone and fired. My first shot I could tell was high. I dialed down and was holding off for the wind. I fired 4 more shots with 3 landing with a 2" group. One shot landed well off to the right due to the wind. Next year I will be shooting this rifle at some mid range matches in Billings.
Thanks again Terry for what you have done for me.
