land owner told me a "giant" ghog lived in a certain fence row so i set up at 300 yds. after awhile a face appears, then the chest...WOW! i wait until it starts eating and it is THE ONE. there was a good breeze from 3 o'clock and i was shooting a 22-250 with 60 gr bergers and i had a good feel for playing the wind. the pig was profiled with head downwind. i put the sightron dot on his buttock/tail juncture and sent it...WHUMMMPPP! PIG DOWN! i hurried to check it out and indeed it was huge. bullet impact at base of neck...wind blown about 11 in! we have a monthly contest in out club, so i got out the digital scale, hooked the end under his upper teeth and hoisted him to shoulder level. 34 # WHAT THE HELL! 60 gr of lead couldn't make it that heavy. i looked down and there hanging to the ghogs tail was a small jack russel terrier! i had everybody hanging in the air and he wasn't about to let go. once the dog let go the ghog did weigh 14# 4 oz, my personal best. i had the same little thief checking out another kill, but he didn't try to steal that one. the saddest thing is that there wasn't anybody else there to share that one.
