9mm Compact Double-Stack Pistol Reviews Follow-up

BTW personally I'd go with the extra mag option over extending a compact pistols grip. The one inch extra on the 43 is about the most you'd want in a compact size grip for concealing. Another magazine in a belt pouch IMO would be a better choice.

I am so sick of reading about various semi handguns that for the most part all have poor accuracy and marginal to poor triggers I could puke. Put them in a bag, shake it about, and pull one out. You seldom ever read any negative reviews because they all advertise. Read about one you pretty much read about all. Wonder nines....yup, wonder what they are good for. I know, you can kill a fellow human being at 9 yards. How would you like to be in survival mode needing to shoot a squrirrel 90 ft up a big oak tree 20 yrs away to feed yourself ?

Jeff,
for that I use my Ruger 10-22 with a 1 1/2 x 4 scope, a 5 oz. trigger , Eley 10 x red box., and thumbhole stock. One can still carry something strapped on though...

I am good with that except I would go red dot instead of a conventional scope. 10-22 works.

Head shoots only, come on man. I have often thought I would be very comfortable defending myself with my Browning 5 in bull barrel .22lr. Superb trigger (tuned), 10 shots that can be fired very quickly with accuracy do to lack of recoil. Might be acceptable in most circumstances.
My wife carries a Glock 43 in her hand-bag , and practices regularly with 124gr JHP's . I am smart enough NOT to get in front of her at even 100 feet , or farther . Definitely a losing endeavor . That woman can put two magazines all in the "Black" at that distance . Small doesn't mean in-accurate . Just small . And BTW , no matter which firearm is in use , Competent Operator is still required .

You hit the nail, "competent operator".

Personal preference obviously but if you take the word "compact" out of the conversation, I'll take my 4' 686 any day of the week.

...I figured if I need to add an inch of magazine to the magazine, I might as well get the one inch longer grip G43X. Doesn't really make the pistol much less concealable but adds 6-8 rounds
I told my wife that adding an extra inch would add 6-8 more rounds...she just rolled her eyes.

Actually carry a Glock 43 and a 1911 colt all day everyday and see which one your carrying in a year..... I carry a G19 and it's a little on the big side but as a friend said , small enough to hide and large enough to go to war with....Any of these little pistols will shoot just fine if you actually take the time and shoot them , which most don't.... Why would you have a carry gun if you're not going to practice constantly with it but I see it daily at my range... Don't blame the gun for bad shooters....
My Leo pistol trainer could put one hole in a target at 25 yards with an old smith snub nose and the hole was smaller than anybody else's... At that point I learned young that if you want accurate pistols YOU have to shoot them alot... The old 9mm vs .45 debating has been dead for years.... Nobody has ever said they wished for a smaller gun in a gun fight but I assure you that a " wonder " 9 will kill you stone cold dead , as a matter a fact if you take pretty much any modern bullet to the chest I hope there's a helicopter in the air heading your way.... Your going to need it... My wife also has been carrying a G43 and she loves it , I can shoot it as well at distance as a G19 and to me the recoil is about the same...

Glock 43 is very reliable. For a subcompact, I prefer the ergonomics of the SIG Sauer P365, and I definitely like the option of a manual safety on the P365 MS model -- but that's up to the user.

I agree with the evaluations of these pistols but I'd also like to add that the Glock 43X can be modified into a double stack magazine by using a Shield Armory magazine built just for this purpose. If 15 rounds isn't enough for you, then you can get the magazine extensions that adds another 5 rounds for a total of 20. Shield recommends that the magazine release be changed to theirs because it's made of metal and the Glock release wasn't designed to work with a steel magazine.

I do love the idea of carrying a 43x with a double stack the same as a G19. However, they are so hard to come by. I carry a 43 with a 2 round extinction, but would love to have 15 rounds with 15 more on the belt. Bought my 43 before the 43x came out and wish I would have waited. For a kick to the shin, I bought my dad a 43x to be a nice guy to the papa. He loves his! Dont get me wrong, I dont mind my 43, but would love to have the extra rounds with it.

Boss man, you are not the first person I have heard say that! Several of my friends have handled both guns and would take the 365 over the 43! I have not had the opportunity to shoot both at the same time to make my own choice, but these are guys I really trust.
