95 grn SSTs for deer/antelope .243?

Just picked up some Hornady 95grn SSTs for the .243, plan tu use them on deer and antelope.

Anyone have any experience with this bullet?

Performance, accuracy etc?

Have H4831, IMR 4064, IMR 4350 and Varget, any load suggestions?

They are a really great deer/antelope bullet.

Win or Rem cases with Win primers, start off at 42.3g of IMR or H 4350 and go up in .5g Increments. You should hit an accuracy node very quickly. I would seat the bullets touching the lands or within .003-.005.

Barrels can be really quirky on what they like. If you find your barrel does not like that bullet, then try the same loads with a 95g Nosler partition, which is a wonderfully accurate bullet.

Good luck

The 95 SST is a fantastic bullet. In my Savage .243 with 22 inch barrel loaded 41.0 gr H4350 in Win cases, Fed 210 primers, COAL 2.700. Chronod at 3025 FPS.

Put 3 in 5/8 at 100 metres, 3 in 1 5/8 at 200 metres. Trajectory is 2 1/2 high at 100, zeroed at 200, 6 low at 300 metres (330 yds).

I worked up this load with an eye to a caribou hunt in Northern Quebec I am lining up.

Thanks for the replies. When the weather clears up I'll hit the range and try out some loads. Can't wait to see how the do.

like the way the sst performs on deer but i found in the couple 3 or 4 243 i tried them in the didnt shoot that accurate. I have had good luck with any 30 cal bullets i have tried though.

Tried a number of loads and couldn't get them to shoot very well. Bought some Sierra 100grn Game Kings and they shot 3 touching @ 100 yards.

Thanks for the tip. This is going to be a deer round and as well as the 100grn Sierras are performing I'm going to stick with that load.

I've killed several deer with that 100gr Gameking out of a 22" standard .243Win (~3050 with a good load of H-100V). It's a very good preformer on our NC deer. You will NOT be disappointed.
