Dropped at 758 am with my Savage 6x6.8, suppressed, 22" BHW 1/9" tw P3 bbl.
Load: 6mm 90g Sierra TGK, 29g x8208, 3037 fps, R-P LRP 6.8 brass necked to 6mm.
Entrance hole 6mm. Exit was about a silver dollar or golf ball sized.
Direct pass through right behind the shoulder taking out lungs & top of heart
I was stalking a tad before light when I could just start to make them out
Wind was 30 mph, maybe even 35 mph & just darn COLD. I was able to work closer upwind of them by staying in low dips then crawling to a small rise. I didn't worry about scent at all. I watched a small herd for an hour knowing others will show up in the wind protected drainage's. They came towards me and away & had 4 bucks swirling around the does. They stayed about 425 yards out, they even saw me, but by staying on my belly they ignored me. Just average horns on them all. I was going to take one of them but I had decided to try a different drainage at the last moment for a bit bigger buck Ive been watching. I stood up walking off 100 yards and looking back to see this guy that I was looking for originally and his does come right into where I was, heck they even saw me. I headed right back at them and they just stood there. I dropped prone, ranged him at 316 yards from a rise & waited till he turned broadside and dropped him with my 6x6.8. Wind was blowing hard from behind so no drift to worry about. Base is 7", length is 15.5" so I am happy.
I am very happy with the end result of the 90g TGK.
