$900 .243 bolt recommendation

Tikkas are great ,smooth as butter and very accurate. I am having a hard time finding one in a shop here in NE NY/Vermont ...plenty of larger calibers though. All the dealers told me to go on line to find one, shipments are slow right now to the dealers . After a gunshow in VT and about twenty shops on this road trip I am going home without one . Instead I am going home with a new Remington 700 heavy barrel in .243 .

Still hoping I luck into one today on the way back home, but not many shops open on sunday. If no luck I will be scouring the internet ,I want one bad.

Good luck to you in your search, keep us posted.

Tika T3 Lite - I had one and sold it, dumb move on my part. IMO its the best out of the box bang for your buck, slickest bolt out there. Love them.

I was just checking the available calibers and saw the same. Had to come back here and post that I'm sorry for suggesting it.

Edit: You know, now that I think about it, did Savage ever offer it in .243? I have one in .223, .308, had a 22-250 that I sold, but I am sure if they did have a .243, I wouldn't have a Savage action with an A&B .243 barrel on it.

P.S. Yep, I have a 12FV 6.5 Creedmoor take off barrel....rounds out the package.

I'd still buy one and swap the barrel out with a Criterion or something similar.

I've owned and shot both Tikkas and Savages. In my experience, although Tikkas are prettier and smoother, the Savage was better on paper.
JMHO

I shoot a Tikka T3 Sporter, and a Savage 12 in competition. Tikka has the smoothest action, and my favorite adjustable factory trigger. My Savage was easier to rebarrel by me - never having done it before. I guess it sort of depends on what you're after in the long run. If I was sold on a .243 forever I 'd go with the Tikka Forest.
