I have a 22-250 with a 1in8 twist that I had built for the 75 grain V-Max bullet. The barrel is a Krieger, and Krieger suggested the 1in8 for the 75 grain pill. I have also shot the 55 grain Hornady bullet from the rifle, and it also shoots well.
I am looking at ordering a new Cooper in 22-250. I would like to shoot the 52 grain Calhoon Double Hollow Point as my primary bullet. However I would also like to have the capability of shooting a heavier bullet on occasion. Not as the regular bullet, just on occasion.
So I was thinking if I order the Cooper that I should order it with a 1in9 twist?? Does that sound about right?? Or should I go 1in10??
One last question. If I decided to only shoot the 52 grain bullets then what would you consider the optimal twist?? 1in12?? Thanks, Tom.
