9 mm Rifle for coon?

Thinking about buying/building a dedicated coon rifle. Leaning toward 22 mag or....what about these rifles that shoot 9 mm rounds? I know nothing about them. Farthest shot would be 50ish yards with most around the 20-30 yard mark. Don't care about pelt damage as there are no more fur buyers in our area. Any experience would be appreciated. Why make ir complicated by buying a weird caliber rifle. I killed a few with a 22RF. I don't think any 9mm. pistol bullet would expand. Are you shooting them in tree where the bullet could travel a long way on a miss our complete penetration?
