8x57 reloading

If your rifle could speak. Stock shows plenty lines of wisdom.
I stripped the cosmoline surface with a carbide cutter to get down to good wood so i could apply a (trueoil) finish. It is very rough surface but quite practical/ nonslip . after several coats inside and out i then used the liquid wax to make it waterproof as well. Piller bedded/ Freefloat. I actually have two all original 8mm's ( other than the sporterization) and both shoot 1/2" groups with my special load.

I used Winchester brass and found it acceptable but this was in 1986. I also used 150 grain Spitzer bullets and IMR 4064. I killed 2 deer with it. Shot great for me.

This was before I knew anything about Lapua brass. Frontier only offered brass coated in chrome then.

In 2002, Win brass was the good stuff to me.
Now I like Lapua and Nosler brass....I am going to try RWS and Peterson, as they may handle higher pressures.
