88 gr Berger in 6mm Creedmoor

Any of you guys worked with the Berger 88gr High BC bullets in a 6mm Creedmoor? Would be interested in hearing your experiences and results. Thank you.

I am shoot the 88 ber. In my 30" 8 t. With R16 at 44.2 gr. Approx 5 thousand.in. 3500 fps. Same load with 87 both ber. Bullet. 6 credm. Please work up to this load.

Alan -

Howdy !

Did try them in my " DEEP 6 " wildcat in a 29" 1-8 Broughton. Case capacity 51.2gr H2O.

Had some groups @ 100yd that all 5 bullets went through the target paper w/ a partial profile of the bullet showing. Sorta like a cheese grater hole look. Can't explain it. Not like it was the more conventionally seen
" keyhole " effect.

Did not like them for 300 or 500yd target work, and were only so-so when used on groundhog.

But hey..... that's just me.

Thank you guys. I asked Berger if this bullet would hold up to 3300fps from an 8 twist. They said it "should" but not to exceed 3300fps. The "should" is dependent on a couple of things to include quality/smoothness of rifling, barrel heat, etc.

Alan, I am sorry. I was using the Berger 90 target bullet and the 87 VLDH with 44.2 reload 16 at 3500 fps. I use the 88 FB with 34 gr. Of h4895 in my 6 dasher.

No Creedmore here but years ago they worked very well for me in a 10t 6br with vv135.

Velocity is the killer in the 6 Creedmoor combination.

Here is a thread from a year or so ago with regard to the same bullet in the 6BR variations:

https://forum.accurateshooter.com/t...-88gr-berger-fb-varmint-bullets-6-br.4017547/

I originally wanted to shoot these 88 gr. Bergers in my 6 Creedmoor but found them to be wanting. I switched to the 87 gr. VMAX which are excellent then also tested the 87 gr. Bergers (#24524) Hunting VLD which are equally good.

Then I found that using the 6BRX with IMR-3031, I could run both at 3250 fps. These are for varmint shooting but can easily be load tested for target shooting. I reserve the 6 Creedmoor for the heavier bullets and longer ranges.

I'm a little late to this but they were coming apart in my 6XC so I quit using them. My barrel is 30" so velocity was pretty high. If you really want to know I can find my old load notes.
