You will have to find the bullet seating depth and velocity accuracy nodes that YOUR RIFLE LIKES. Any bullet seating depth testing should be done at the lowest powder charge listed for the bullet/powder/cartridge combination you are testing for. Once the bullet seating depth accuracy node is found. Work the load back up slowly checking for pressure signs and accuracy until your highest velocity accuracy node is found. If you have the BERGER RELOADING MANUAL the 87gr VLD and 88gr VARMINT bullet will use the same load data in your 6-284. I have a hillbilly theory that the ammount of jump or jam is determined by the type of powder used rather than the weight or profile of the bullet,,,,I have used the same bullet in various cal rifles and it seem the slower the powder being used the more jump it can tolerate,,,or like,,,for in stance a 175 SMK with 4895 may like to jam/touch in a .308 win,,,but in a 300 WSM that same bullet (both used with Krieger 10 twist bbls) and 4350 powder may like to jump ~.025",,,,I think it is dwell or burn time of the powder,,,,Roger

It takes me almost an entire box of bergers after OCW and depth testing. It is what it is. There is a sweet spot to find. You just have to keep looking for it & not give up. I have to single load the 88's in my 243, but the accuracy is crazy. Worth it.

IN MY 243 WITH H-414 WITH THE 87GR BERGERS IT LIKES THEM .010 OFF

I have a 6br 10 twist and it likes them .010 jump also

I used them in a 10” twist Dasher and expected them to prefer .010” jam as the other 6mm VLDs have but the 87gn pills preferred .010” jump.
