80 Fowlers

Was wondering if anyone ever tried the 80gr Fowler's for Varmints, these bullets really group well at all ranges up to 500 in my 6BR.

Chet

I dust off a lot of varmints using the awesome 80 grain Fowlers in both my 6br's and a 6mmAI and never had a get-a-way happen. I wouldn't use them if I was saving hides though. This dog gave it up after taking a hit at 318 yards with that bullet..

Like all good things be prepared to wait for your order.I have the 80 Fowlers coming and Jef told me 4 weeks,we are into the second week now.

nice shooting and picture, care to share more info on that load you use and barrel make and twist?

The rifle is a 700 Remington action blueprinted, and the barrel is/was a 26 inch 3 groove Pac-Nor chambered in 22/6mm Ackley. After 468 rounds seeing the barrel was already toasted from to many 22 caliber 75 grain Amaxes screaming at over 3800fps.....
I sent it to Jim Dubell in Wash state and had him rebore it to a 10 twist 6mm, but left the chamber as it was. The load is a 80 grain Fowler, .010 into the rifling F-210M 45.0 grains of new H-4350 @3408fps.
This load will consistently do under a inch @350 yards all day long, the 12X42 BR Nightforce helps out a lot doing that, as well as the 2 ounce Jewell trigger. It's setting in a pillared, and glassed Boyds blank I worked over.

very nice varmint rig and the barrel rebore is something new to me as I have never even considered it and just simply re barreled when switching calibers. wanna sell it? LOL

Sweeeet! I just happen to have 250 80gr Fowlers laying around. I think the yotes won't like them very much after leaving my 243AI.

It was with great sadness that I heard of Jeff Fowler's passing away. I've never met him, but heard a lot of him and his bullets were unsurpassed.

Can you still get Fowler bullets, specifically 80 gr), i.e. did anyone take over Jeff's business?

My understanding is his son, Ed took over the business, still trying to find an address, phone # or E-mail for him.i would be in for a bulk order.

Thanks for the response. I will appreciate it if you will post the contact particulares of Fowler if you find it.

I will in principle also be in with a bulk order, but I'll have to work through an exporter, probably someone like Sinclair or Bruno.

You boys out to try some Sierra 80g Blitz BT! They are unreal accurate and blow up much better than the J-4 Jackets!

You will not be disappointed!

I just spoke with Ed Fowler yesterday. This is his website:

I hope this helps

I think I would be very disappointed if those 80 grain Fowlers didn't out shoot and outclass the 80gr Sierra by a whole lot.......... at any distance...
Now if Sierra would make a 6mm 80gr MK, that might help change my mind.
