7x300 weatherby magnum

Yes I will try that with mid loads from STW loads.
I had a 7x300 before and I used H870 with good results, back then we did not have all the slow burning powders we have now. The only problem with H870 was fouling and a lot of scrubbing. I will try Retumbo ,50BMG, US869, RL25, Imr 7828. :)

;DSeems to be two 7x300 threads going on at the same time, I have been testing several loads that have been accurate in my Remington 700 LR re chambered to 7x300 Weatherby.
Retumbo 81gr. 168 Berger VLD, Group measured .312"at 100 yds. Mv.3240 fps.

Hodgdon Us869,89.0 grs. 175 Nosler ABLR .759" at I00 yds. Mv.3182.

Retumbo 78.0grs. 180 Berger VLD, .700"at 100 yds. Mv 3108fps.

If I can find some Rl 33 I will try it out also. I read that Norma 214 is another powder that might work out.
H 50BMG and H US869 are the slowest I have tried, I think I will be able to drive that 180 VLD up to 3200fps. Later I will try the Berger 195 grs.,So many powders and bullets to try out, The barrel will be shot out by the time I get them all shot.

Does anyone have any reloading data for this cartridge? 7x300 Weatherby Magnum.

For what ever it is worth, I used to make 7 STW cases out of 300 Weatherby cases, just necked them down and fire formed them. So, the case capacity is darn close.

Since my last post I have been testing different bullets and powders, so far the 175 Nosler ABLR has been vey accurate as well as the 168 Nosler
ABLR. The best powder seems to be H -US869 and RL33 and RL26. I have tested the 180 Berger Hyb. ,162 ELD Hornady Match and the 168 Vld. I am using Nosler new loading data for the 28 Nosler. I am getting the same velocities as the book lists.

I'm not sure what you will use the rifle for but you will wear out the throat pretty quickly with all the testing. You may already have to seat your bullets further out to touch.

570 hasn't been around since I stopped shooting my 7-300 Weatherby at Williamsport around , guessing 1976-79 . Still have 3 lbs and the rifle .
I don't know why , but it's in the corner gun safe .

Bill if you go to Original Pa 1000 yard club. On the website on the upper left click on club info history, once there you can see article by Dave Troxell, Official world records and lots of other stuff. Lots of good info on the website. Matt

No one has mentioned RL-50 or 7828 ssc I own a 7-300 that is one of the Originals from the Williamsport Club! One of these days I'll try it. Its a 1-9 twist Hart barrel in a block Chambered by Howard Wolfe with an FN single shot action. Just thought I'd add a couple more powders.
