Here is my question. I shoot at a casual 1000yd match, and it's all single load shooting. I currently have a Remington model 7 in 7 SAUM. Will it cause an issue single loading the SAUM with say 180-190 Bergers? I am thinking of just having it rebarreled with an MTU Bartlein. I have no real interest traveling to other matches, but when the wind is blowing, I would like a better choice than my 6CM. The 6CM does fantastic at 300 and 600 but in swirling winds at 1000 I struggle. I am just looking to use what I have, if possible. Thanks all!

Do you know what the freebore is?
Single loading in a short action has the draw back of, if you didn't
fire that round, might have to pull the bolt to get the unfired round out.
Just for your local match, not to much to worry about other than if the freebore
is long enough to handle the 180-190g and not be too deep into the case for
max powder load.

Even with a short throat, the big Bergers will be over 3.2” long. My just my saum reamer has a .188 throat and I was seating 183 smks at 3.220” oal (.030 off). It can be done with a SA, but it’s also going to be a little hard to get rounds in the chamber and good luck getting a loaded round out of a model 7.
I have a 7saum hunting rifle built on a 700 SA, I opened up the ejection port to 3” so I could get loaded rounds in and out of the rifle easily. I also installed a Wyatt’s 3” internal box magazine, I still can’t magazine feed the big match bullets but I can mag feed all the 175gr hunting bullets with room to spare,
