I am looking for some load suggestions for this bullet and cartridge combination. I’ve committed to the 195 grain eol bullet from Berger because of the high bc as this rifle was built for f open shooting.
The barrel is 30” long with enough free bore to put the end of the shank just ahead of the neck, shoulder junction.
In a ladder test during fire forming, I was getting very faint ejector marks at around 58.5 grains of H4381sc. Velocity at this point was 2750. I continued with the test until 60.4 where I saw a very positive ejector mark and stopped there. Bolt lift was still normal and velocity was 2850.
The other powder I tried was VV N560 which was able to get to 2800fps with no ejector marks but velocity didn’t seem to increase as consistent shot to shot nor did it seem to show any ‘happy places’.
I have tried to find published load data on this combination but was only able to get some quick load data from Berger tech support. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Sean
