7mmWSM questions

hi folks

i have ordered a 7mmWSM rifle from my smith. barnard magnum action, lothar or trueflite 1 in 9 tube, dependent on whether lothar can make barrels 32" long or not, robertson f-class stock etc. etc.

i have some bags of winchester 7mmWSM brass ready to prep, and i plan to shoot the 180 bergers and if they don't work, the 175 sierras.

my question is has anyone else specced a reamer for these bullets in this case that would be prepared to tell me what to order from dave kiff? anything to save me working things out myself and save me a little time so i can get my rifle as soon as possible.

any help, much appreciated.

Dave Kiff has a reamer for the 7wsm for the 180 bergers .165 free bore I believe. I have one in a heavy gun, the 7wsm shoots very well

A friend of mine has a beautiful 7mm WSM that subsists on a diet of 180 Bergers... It is a superb LR rifle and cartridge. Don't know which reamer he used, but Rick Freudenberg of Everett WA built the rifle. It's a hammer!

My 7WSM rifle has a 7 twist LILJA 3 groove 28" long

I use the following load:

F215M
63.5 VV N165
Winchester Cases
Berger 180gr VLD BC=.698
Velocity: 2850
Barrel Length: 28"

135 Groove, 156 Cartarucio VLD, 176 Cartarucio VLD, 180 Barnes VLD and for comparison the .30 175 SMK.

What neck should I get if I want to clean up the Winchester brass for a 7 WSM. I would be shooting the 180 bergers and 180 JLK's. I don't want to widdle to nothing, but clean up for better neck tension and concentricity.

Maybe I better go 7 WSM over a .280 AI.

My 7mm WSM brass loaded with 175 MKs measures 0.314....so a thou clean up pass would put it at 0.313, so a 0.315 or 0.316 neck would give you the 0.001 to 0.0015" per inch clearance...
