7mmBR rifle build question

I'm lookin for a little feed back on this one.
I'm have in the works a lightweight mountain rifle i'm building on a blueprinted remington 700 action for myself, and I am chambering it for 7mm BR with a 1-9 twist McGowen barrel in a Douglas feather weight contour....
now for my question.... 18" or 20"? and I will be installing a titanium brake as well....

Thanks for looking and your time

I did a 6.5 BRX that still felt balanced and handy at 22", it didnt generate enough recoil to warrant a brake though.

I built something like this several years ago and use as my night vision hog gun. I'm running a 22" barrel in a birch stock and find it quite handy. The
whole thing would be very light except the night vision scope is pretty heavy. 22 inches just makes it easier on my ears......maybe. Deadly with 129 SST's

Sounds like a nice build. What kind of velocity were you getting?

I get right at 2650 using a fairly healthy dose of H335. I got most of my reload data out of the Sierra Manuel.

What a great idea! I have a Remington action and McMillan Edge stock just waiting for me to decide on the chambering. Already have a 7mmBR reamer, brass, and dies. My silhouette pistol has a 15" barrel and is deadly with 115 Speer Hollow Points.
For myself I will probably keep the barrel at 22 inches and no brake. I don't know how much velocity you would lose by going with an 18 inch barrel.

Sure would make a handy pork poker at 18 inches tho! Be just like a mohawk. Mine has a 22 inch, but that's just what i had laying around. Excellent little cartridge for what your wanting. Don't over look the plain old 120 sierra either. Killed aplenty with em!

So far the project is coming along well. I'm chambering and breeching the barrel saturday, 9-23-17, then bedding.
I'll post pics when completed and range tested.....
projected weight is 6.4 pounds with ammo and glass.
