7mm WSM, long or short action build

I've read a few threads on this and just wanted to get some updated opinions. I'm looking at this being my next build. I like the rigidity of the short action, not to mention the shorter bolt travel. I plan on the LR usual 160-180 class projos. On my .308 shooting the heavies stretched, I notched the feed ramp and use WSM accurate mags and alpha 2 mags and works great with my coal of 2.92. Looking for experienced opinions on this. Thanks in advance for input.

I have a 6.5 WSM built on a Rem 700 SA
Shooting the 140 Berger VLD kissing the lands I have to pull the bolt to eject an unfired round out the back of the action.
It is no big headache and I rarely have to do it.

I also shoot a 6.5 WSM with 140 VLD's. mine is built on a older Ruger tang safty 7 mag action. My smith had to work on the feed ramp to get it to feed and I can only put 2 in the bottom but it shoots awesome, but you only need one right ;)

Several years ago, I built a 7wsm on a short action for the same reasons you mentioned. I enjoyed the rifle, but ended up selling it because I couldn't get over how far the 180 Bergers sit down in the case so I could still use the magazine. If I did it again, I'd do long action without a doubt. I'd still have that rifle if it were a long action. 7wsm and 180 Bergers are an awesome combo.
