7mm WSM from norma brass

Anyone make any from the norma 300 WSM brass? if so how did you neck them down? I have bushing dies and dont know if going from the 300 to my .312 bushing is one step is the best way to go or it I should do it in a couple of steps.

Yes, I neck down Norma .300WSM brass using a Redding Type S FL bushing die in one step. Make sure you lube the cases well. I had a few early ones that I half-assed it on and nearly got them stuck.

Yes, BUT The shoulder on the 7MM is farther forward than the 300 and 270, so you need to only partially size the neck down so that you have a false shoulder and then fireform with a modest load for the first firing.

yes just like I fire-formed my BRX brass. ok sounds good thats what I was thinking jay just checking before I ruined some better brass

Actually, you don't even need to worry about it- the die (being a 7WSM die) by default only resizes an area that is the length of the a 7WSM neck, leaving a bit of the 300WSM neck unsized. It gets formed completely on firing. I don't bother with worrying about a false shoulder and "fireforming" with modest loads- it's not like forming a 6BR to a 6 Dasher. The difference between a 300WSM and a 7WSM shoulder is pretty minimal- you are not moving a lot of brass. Just enough so that you can't accidentally chamber a 7WSM round in a 300WSM rifle.
