7mm SAUM action question

Which Rem. action would be the best to build a 7mm SAUM 1000 yd. rifle on?

I built one on a short action and it works great.

The factory 7mm Saums are on a short action, and if I was to build another one I would probably use a XP-100 action if I didn't need a repeater...

I would forgo the factory action and look into either a sturgeon action of my first choice would be a Stiller SS Viper, then followed by one of their Tac 30 actions

Seems like some folks can't afford that high dollar stuff for whatever reason, and it seems like he did ask about a specific Action...
Other than that, I would have recommended a BAT M......

I built mine on a Rem 700 bdl LA. I had a .315nk.reammer made by PTG to put a 175smk at the lands w/ the top of the bt. at the neck/shld. junction. The coal is 2.960,2.310 W/ comp). I heard you might have troubles unloading a round that long from a SA. I might be wrong. Now if I could only get it to feed good...

Feeding properly was the one area of concern with the builder I spoke with.........bet he knows lots more than I do!!

With mine I can keep one in the mag and one chambered. Thats it... I think if the follower had some mods. done to it I should get two to feed and one in the tube. It wont feed w/ two in the mag. One round pops out when you open bolt and falls out or double feeds. Other than that it works great.

The right follower in a short action will feed just fine.

It was a 7mmRem mag. I was wondering if the follower for the 7rum was different and maybee that would work for the saum? Will a short action work well w/ a 7saum @2.960 oal. I know there`s no way that would feed but can you unload it without pulling the bolt?

A 7mmsaum follower will help out a lot.
The convenience of the short action will over power the need to pull the bolt out a little to eject a loaded round, I do it all the time with my .284XP-100

What type of magazine does your Savage action use and what cal was it originally? Also, are there any concerns with the COAL and fitting into the mag.
