7mm rem mag nosler 160gr partions

I hunted with a friend in Arizona a few times each year. His elk medicine was the seven mag with the 160 GR partition. We were drawn 9 times in 11 years. Terry had 9 one shot elk kills with the partition. Yeah…. they work ;)

I've used Nosler 150 gr solid base for the last 30 years in my 7mm RemMag. Probably 15 bulls down in that time.

The key, as always, is bullet placement. Those partitions will do just fine.

Partitions work very well on elk. I have used them in 7mm-.338. Never a failure. Shot placement is essential on elk.
Good hunting

I killed two bulls with an A Bolt Stalker over a couple of year period 66g of IMR 4350, Rem brass, 9 1/2,140g Ballistic tips, they dropped grave yard dead hit center of body on a dead flat out run at 200 yards(did not leade them enough). I had a muzzle break on the rifle. At the bullet's impact, their tongue wend out what looked like a foot, their front legs quit working, and they plowed the ground. One of the bullets kicked a few times, the other kicked once, neither even tried to get get up. This was a while back.

70g of R#25, CCI250, 160g triple shock is what I would use now.

I had a 7mm mag and shot the Nosler partitioned in it. It will work on elk and after taking one it changed. The main problem with the partition is that you will lose the front half of the bullet 100% of the time. In theory, the partition sounds good but I believe you lose a lot. If you want a partitioned bullet try Swift A-Frame bullet. It is much like the Nosler partition but has a bonded core that will not fall out. I have changed over to a 7mm RSAUM and Berger 180gr VLD. They are much more accurate than the Nosler, especially at long range. They also make a 140gr and a 160gr if you want something lighter.

the nosler partion is a very good bullet, have used it with excellent results and loaded it for a friend in his 7x57 and 280, he has taken 6-7 elk and many African heads without a loss and all went no more than a few feet, only one I know of needed a second hit and that was at 375yds on a 5x6 bull, monster

That's the design of the partition. It performs as it's supposed to. DEADLY medicine ;)

You will find that the Swift will retain more weight but not penetrate as deeply as a partition. Makes little difference on a side lung shot but does matter on large animals where shots have to penetrate a lot of tissue to reach vitals. Bill
