7mm Rem Mag making me Happy!

I posted some time back about a bad hunting experience with a new scope that had exposed turrets. I learned a lesson that still stings. Missed a very large buck - the largest I would have ever had a chance to take for sure. Anyway, started from scratch. Took the Boyd's stock off and put on OEM T3 stock. I did some camouflage on it myself and was pretty happy with it, so it was given a chance to prove its worth. Then, a new Z3 4x12 as my new scope. Have been having trouble getting the grouping previously achieved... until today.

Verified the load with 3 loaded with new brass and 3 shots load with 1 time fired brass. Rifle is a Tikka T3, bullets 140 TTSX, powder 4831sc. 1x brass gave me about 30 fps faster speed. I am extremely happy to have found my load with the T3 stock. Picture of rifle and today's target.

Oh, if anyone would like to pack me in on an elk hunt - someone already paid and cancelled - and don't want their money back :O this fellow in Florida would love to go!

Very nice camo job.ive never heard of a Tikka rifle that didn't shoot very well.glad you got happy with it
Kida strange you'll here it about sako rifles sometimes but not tikkas

Yeah!!! Those Barnes TTSX's shoot great in my 7 MM Rem Mag as well (BAT Magnum action w/Krieger barrel). I have tried the 120's, 140's and 150's - all shot spectacularly once the right powder was found for each. Mine shoots best with Reloader 22 with those bullets, though IMR7977 was a respectable second place. In my rifle, these shot considerably better than the other eight powders tried, including 4831 SC. Always pays to keep going when you think a rifle will do better. While it wasn't necessarily the case with this rifle - most calibers I have worked up loads for with the Barnes actually shoot pretty well using Barne's suggested loads. I seldom have that experience with other loading manuals. They do their homework, obviously using multiple rifles to test. Nice Tikka!
