When you are close enough to clearly see your hit -= and the red patch forming exactly where you shot - you know you hit it - and well. That was my last (and worst) experience with that bullet and I now no longer use it for hunting - just as Hornady advises. It can be surmised that the bullet deflected to another part of the anatomy and was a possible cause for not exiting. There are other scenarios. Regardless of whether it deflected, blew up or not - it failed to do the job. And it is not to say many, many folks will continue to use it successfully. Get real BigMT. Maybe take some pointers from my 8-year old nephew whom kills wild turkeys with his Red Ryder BB-Gun..... he says thats all he needs. Who is to argue?
