7mm Mauser neck down question

I'm considering necking down Norma or RWS (if available) 7mm Mauser brass to 22 cal. Considering it for a couple reasons but they aren't really relevant to the question so I'll spare you the details.

So, has anyone here necked down Norma or RWS brass to 22 cal? How about 6mm? If you have for either, can you tell me what the neck thickness is?

Just trying to get an idea on how much would need to be turned off. Thanks!!!

Just size one and measure it. I would make sure the brass is annealed before you start though. That way you wont split the cases as much.

You will have your hands full necking down RWS to .22. I have just taken RWS 7x57 down to 6 mm, I had to neck turn 10 thou of the necks to fit a .273 chamber.

I'm sorry but I don't have any virgin brass left to measure but I think the neck wall of the untouched RWS brass measured approximately 16 or 17 thou.

Thanks guys!

Elwood, that's what I was afraid of. It may not be worth the effort for my application. I'm just looking into some higher quality brass for a 22-6mm.

Might just have to stick with Winchester 6mm Rem. brass.
