7mm mag

my brother in law gave me a ruger 7 mm mag he called it a paddle tail does anyone know anything about these rifles called paddle tail?

Excellent rifles as far as functionality and reliability goes. Accuracy can be so so to great, just depends on what you get for a barrel. One MOA should be achievable and the nice thing about it is you can haul it on a quad, strapped to your horse or your back without worry about tearing it up.

I have one but with the regular stock. It shoots fine for a factory rifle. Three shot groups are right at 1 moa.

I recently picked one up in 270 Win.
Have wanted one for years, but couldn't afford one when they were new.
Since they quit making them, price went up and still couldn't afford one.
Finally found one that I could afford. Shop said it was sold to them the morning that I saw it and bought it.

As with all the Ruger 77 MKIIs, they benefit from trigger work.
Either a new aftermarket trigger, or a set of trigger springs.
I put Wolfe Springs in all 4 of my Rugers.

The "boat paddle" Rugers seem to have hit towards a collectable in the past few years.
If you see Ruger 77 MKII Stainless with the Zytel synthetic stock, it's the actual Ruger description of the rifle.

I got lucky and got mine for $600.
They are going for about twice that on GunBroker.

i give $400 for my rifle from brother in law .

Ruger boat paddle? Isn't that standard for a Ruger? Kinda like Rem 700's being referred to as sewer pipes to which a barrel is affxed.

Nope.
Back in the 1980s the stainless Ruger 77 MKII had the Zytel synthetic stock.
Those were the "boat paddle".
Named so because the buttstock was indented.

You could still get the blued with wood stock 77 MKII.

I'll take a picture of mine today and post it so you can see.

Never heard of any Rem 700's refered to like that. But if you have a few and don't like them, I will pay postage for any you sent me, to rid yourself of them. SMILE.

Thanks for the offer to adopt, but I've never owned one. Can't get by a pre-64 win 720 and the Browning safari grades...now those are rifles!
