7mm mag scope rings, bases ?

I've got a stainless Remington Sendero mod 700 in 7mm mag. Right now i've got a 30 mm 4x14x44 vortex scope on it. The base is a 20moa mil spec rail. , and medium rings. My problem is I'm not able to get into the scope the way i feel i should. It seems the scope is mounted too high, or the comb of the stock is too low. Any ideas on what bases/rings would work better for me. This rifle shoots, very well, but, i'm not comfortable with the /rings/bases set up. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

How to address the problem depends upon how much clearance you have under the front end of the scope. How much clearance do you have between scope and barrel out front?

Aside from moving scope down (if you have room) - other option is to add to the comb, either through an adjustable cheek-piece, a strap on pad, replacing the stock, etc.

Unless the scope is jacked way above the barrel much further than need be, putting on a strap-on or glue-on cheekpiece will likely be the easiest and least expensive route. Another option is to lose the rail and rings, replacing with 20 M.O.A. rings. Eliminating the rail usually lowers about 1/4" to 1/2" by itself. Lower rings will do more - if there is that much clearance. Scope and stock changes, as you know = > cost.

If you have almost no clearance now, your choices narrow..

I've got about 3/8th''clearance between the forward portion of the chamber and barrel, actually i can almost put a .284 bullet between the widest part of the scope bell and the forward part of the chamber. And, i did try a lace up comb on the rifle at well. So, I'll take the 20 MOA rail off and then try some medium rings to see if that will work, if not, I'll go to the small, IF it will clear the power adjustment bell on the 4x16x44 vortex. thanks for the idea's, appreciate the help. The rifle shoots very well, I'm just not in the right position on the rifle from the way it feels.

So who makes 20moa scope rings?

I think talley makes elevation rings? I use a 20mo base on my 7mag with medium height rings. Works well for me but I also put a different stock on it too. A pic of yours would help.
Original stock

BC stock

I could trim
The front of the base off even with the recover and get away with a set of low rings if I wanted but the 1/4" wouldn't make any diff to me

I would take a hard look at the Talley Light Weight rings.
That is what I have switched too and for a one piece ring/base combo
they work very well. The first one I switched over was my 700 7mag
and I run the lows with a 40mm Leupold on it with room to spare.

There are at least three companies making 20 m.o.a. scope rings, one of which is Barrett. I was researching them a while back. The Barrett was not my choice as was pretty heavy, but I cannot recall the name of the one I liked. They are out there for those in need.
