7mm MAG all over the place

I've seen wooden stocks break because of too much weight on those Lead Sled. A decent front rest and a rear bag would help you a lot. Usually that kind of rifle will shoot decent groups in that caliber. I would thoroughly clean the barrel and check for barrel clearance to stock, And maybe a adjustment to your trigger will help.

1. On the Rem 700, make sure the magazine box is loose. 2. A different gun rest, bags or bipod, many rifles group or change poi depending on what is supporting them. With bullets weights over 100 gr I want more than 2 screws per ring, and I lap rings to at least 75% contact. If the gun performs differently when changing rests, the stock is an issue.

FWIW, I start preparing for next season at the end of this season, so I have to ask.
Why are you preparing to go hunting right before season?
Is it possible to borrow a shooting system from a friend or family member?
Rifle with good proven loads
I say this as I loaned out my 30-06 to my buddies dad for his elk hunt this year.
This was easier than trying to figure out his sons problems with their rifle in a short time frame.

Now to you rifle.
You have more wear n tear on your 4 year old 700 than I have on mine and its 18 years old.
Wrap some sand paper on a deep well socket and get rid of the touch point at the end of fore end. Start with 80 finish in 180-220 after you are sure you got good clearance wipe some oil on exposed wood.
I'm not going to get into trigger adjustment as I dont want liability. See a Smith for that.

If your first shot is on target and the rest are stringing upward you have a loose action to stock fit. Torque action screws. Get front
FARMER tight, as this is the business end where recoil lug is at.

Lastly is the 7mag to much gun for you?
Be honest with yourself here.
You can always take it to the pawn shop n trade it for something a lil more manageable. 270, 30-06 perhaps?

I read through all the posts and may have missed it but for the OP, how fast were you shooting these groups. The skinny barrels can heat up rapidly and turn an accurate rifle in to one shooting shotgun groups. At the range, I've watched 7RM deer hunters run through a box of ammo in a half hour or less, to the point where they'd burn their hands touching the barrel. They'd leave with the rifle, a hope and a prayer. As other advised, change the rings and shoot off of a rest or bags then try shooting one round and letting the barrel cool back to ambient temp before firing another round.
