7mm lrm

Hey guys think ive decided on a 7mm lrm for my upcoming build. Can anyone tell me where I can get brass abd dies? Also what kind of money should I expect to pay for brass? If its crazy I may just go 7mm dakota but havent ruled out the 7mm-300wm either. I do prefer a non belted case but its not a deal breaker either way.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Basically turned off by the fact that I have to buy brass from gunwerks. I like the case design being non belted and all of the lrm but I like to have options when buying brass. Does gunwerks have brass all the time or will I have a gun with no ammo at some point? How is gunwerks customer service? All unknowns to me right now and I dont want to learn the hard way.

Good customer service and they have plenty of brass-Good folks.

You might take a look at 280 Rem AI, I built one with a Stolli Grizzly II action, Broughton 5C benchrest barrel, medium Palma, prone stock by Carl Bernosky. Brass available( Nosler ),recoil very managable. Launches 180VLD's at 2950 fps with IMR 7828 SSC, into one hole at 200 yds, hammers the X ring at 600. I have no regrets. Other than it shoots better than I do ;P

I got my brass from gunwerks, no issues at all. You can also form it from 375 ruger cases. Hornady makes the lrm brass for gunwerks. The problem with the 7-300 wm is the short neck. Ok if you know exactly what bullet you want to shoot. I specd my LRM reamer so all the 180s will work and the 195 hybrid should be above the donut as well when it comes out.

I've worked extensively with the 7LRM. It's by far my favorite 7mm magnum.

We have brass in stock, as well as modified Forster Ultra-Micrometer seater dies. We leave the sizing dies up to you, but we send fired brass off to whidden for custom FL sizing dies.

Give us a call if you have any questions about the cartridge or would like to order up some brass or a micrometer seater.

Since the quality of the 375 Ruger brass from Hornady is not that great, I have two guns that use it as the parent brass, I assume the 7 LRM brass from Hornady would be the same quality. Why not start with the Nosler 26 brass and neck it up the case capacity is almost identical and the Nosler brass made by Norma may be better than the Hornady brass.

I agree with kentcroy that the 280 AI is a great 7mm round, I just switched to that for my F-class gun and it is great at 1,000 yards, unfortunately I am not so great. I wanted to use Lapua brass so I used the original chambering and started with Lapua 30-06 brass. Pass the brass though the 280 AI and you have a lase shoulder for fire forming and shoot it, not that hard.

Intetesting. Has anybody made a reamer for the 7mm-26 nosler yet? That hadnt really crossed my mind at all. How will brass availability be?

If memory serves, the 26 nosler is quite a lot larger than 7lrm. The shoulder position is around a hundred thou farther forward. (I think)

I built an 7lrm for myself, Gunwerks keeps about 50,000 pieces in stock. Had whidden build my sizer and seater. No problems at all.

Call Dave Kiff up at PT&G and ask him for the 7mm-26 Nosler reamer, if he has not cut one yet he will be happy to do so. Contact Mark Spencer to get a custom full length resizing die and you will be ready to go.
