7mm Custom Bullets

I wish I had known there was a top notch bullet maker in South San Francisco. I would have tried to see how he made them. I just heard the Cauterucio name a few days ago but unfortunately he passed away in 2017.

I would not be surprised if his machinery has already been sold off to people who don't know what it's good for...

Just home from eight days of mule deer hunting - been making great 6.5 for three years now . . . a well kept secret so far: < bibullets.com > still under the NEW PRODUCTS tab.

Shot nice mule deer with a BIB 7mm, 160 Gr. BT (annealed J4 jackets) out of the Detsch die (unknown ogive) which I purchased through Charlie Hood, from Jim Hardy's estate - very good shooting bullets.

I also have a set of Ulrich 10 caliber ogive, 0.050" me'plat dies. Thus far have made only 160/165 Gr., but am starting a batch of 180 Gr., or, so - yet to be determined, depending upon jacket/nose fill: for ultimate precision, lead too far up nose is undesirable.

The Hardy/Detsch die makes a longer shank than does the Ulrich 10 ogive: the 160s, pointed in the Detsch die are working well in barrels throated for the 180/185 Bergers; the Ulrich 160's are a little short of shank for barrels so throated. RG

what weight 7mm are you planning?
Still to be determined, but somewhere in the 180s with BCs competitive with the Bergers of similar weight. I still have to nail down the specifics. I've got a 6mm in the works first, and then the 7s are probably going to be next.
