7mm chamber options?

I just acquired a Proof CF barrel in 7mmWSM and I'm not sure I want to keep it in the 7mmWSM. What would be the easiest rechamber cartridge? I'm thinking a cartridge that would do a full cleanup without a set back would be best. 7PRC, 7mm Rem Mag, 7mm STW, 7SAUM? Not sure what would qualify and what would be reasonable enough to find reloading components. The only reason I'm asking is because 7WSM is not popular at all anymore and finding brass is VERY hard to find.

How much steel is there before going to carbon? Everything you mentioned needs a big set back as in the entire length of the WSM chamber.

None of these are going to work because the taper on them is smaller than the wsm, 7mm Rem Mag, 7mm STW, 7SAUM.

The PRC may work, But not without setting it back, The head diameter is smaller on PRC cartridges. , Look at the cartridge drawings, I don't believe a carbon barrel has enough meat on it to set it back much.

I think I would go with a 7-300 WSM then it would take much less meat off the barrel.
Then you could neck down 300WSM brass for it. Or the 7-270 WSM. If you prefer necking up.

The .544" base is the kicker.

Without setting the barrel back, by quite a bit, your going to be stuck reaming to either 7mm RUM, or 7mm Dakota.

When you study the drawing above 7mm WSM you see the largest diameter is 0.555

Now when you see the largest diameter for the 7mm Dakota, it's 10 thousandths smaller in diameter.

Leave your 7mm WSM alone and go develop loads for it. Brass is available but you will have to do some searching.

Enjoy the process!

The 7mm Dakota and 300 dakota share the same head diameters and the same brass pretty much just different lengths.
The bolt face won't work without opening it up, It's not much, But I think that's the main reason it never went anywhere.

And nobody should care because the head diameter is 0.010" too small to clean up the WSM chamber.
