7mm blank info

I got an amazing deal on a really old 7mm blank that is a 10 twist. The info I am looking for is what is the mildest load that can take advantage of this twist rate for target shooting. It will be a long time before I use it on an action but when I use it I would like it to be chambered for a round that will not burn out the barrel. In fact a barrel life of more than 4000 rounds is my goal. I know very very little about the 7mm and its chamberings so could really use some help.

I would imagine 7mm-08 is right up your alley; that's the mildest 7mm that I can think of, other than 7mm BR. I don't know about 4000 round barrel life but a 10 twist be perfect for shooting ~162gr bullets.

thanks I will look into that. They should add some of the twist rate info to the 7mm page. I read it and it left a lot to be researched elsewhere.

A 7x 57 either regular or Ackley will give you lots of rounds down the tube. Usually running at lower pressure than 7-08 which will give you more life.

can 7mm-08 brass be easily formed from 308 brass. I have an M1a that I shoot factory ammo out of and have been saving all of my brass so far. If it is possible that would deffinelty make me prefer the 7-08 as brass is far to expensive lately for bying new.

Also on the barrel life subject this rifle will be used to practice a bunch with and have fun with different caliber. With the expectation of 4000 rounds life I am only looking for it to maintain 1.5 MOA out to 500 with that life so I think it should be doable plus I can always set it back as right now it is still straight blank.
