Hello I am in need of advice.. I am in the procces of having a reamer being made for the 7MM BR and the company I am using has a build sheet to spec the reamer to. what I dont understand is what does C.I.P. mean and can I increase the neck diameter from normal spec of .309-.310 to a more user friendly .312? I found out that there are no SAAMI specs for this case just CIP.. I dont mind having to neck turn cases but if I can make it easier that is good for me. but when I was looking at the reloading dies all were based on the tight neck so does that mean I would have to have a set of custom made dies to match my new reamer specs?

from what I have learned all xp's used .309 neck dont know about the rest i assume it was consistent from remington to all the rest and its only the neck that I only want to change but not if it interferes with the rest of the cartridges dimensions and function

I just checked with Ammo Guide and my reloading manual and they show the specs for the 7mm Bench Rest Remington "as verified with SAAMI specs". I'm thinking you should be able to able to get reamer specs. I've been shooting my little 7 for probably 20 years so should be info available.

I have been having a heck of a time tring to comunicate on here and this place hasn't let me post at all sorry for that who do I let know of my predicament?
does it show case data with a bullet seated in the neck or just a empty case?just curious because the reamer dude I am going thru wanted me to make three dummy rounds with bullets seated where I wanted 'em to be an Take measurements at the neck, head, shoulder and COAL with the name and weight of the boolit in the case. and then ship the work sheet and all three dummy rounds to his shop so their engineer can get all of the small details to build the reamer now according to Pac=Nor they only have just one reamer on file for the 7MM BR and its CIP an per them it runs on the tight side of specs and wont change it so I went looking elsewhere and I ended up at Dave Manson in Michigan and several calls later I got to where I am at now so do I just let It be and accept it as is or try to have the one change that I want to make? yeah I called them and they only do CIP spec but that was talking to the gal in the office and not the tech guy he was busy.. I got a hold of dave manson precision and they will build me a custom reamer any way I want saami or cip with or without alterations and I just emailed them what I want and the guy who responded said what I wanted made sense and made no price increase on that custom reamer it is 205.00 live pilot with both go and no go gauges and titanium carbide ( I think) coated.. however I am going to use PT&G for my 280 reamer and 250 savage reamer both live pilot as they are in stock right now

Are you using Lapua brass ! I would because of the quality, and I'm not sure if Remington even produces 7 BR brass anymore ! I'm sure people still have it in a drawer stashed away, and you could probably fine some, but the easy way to get to were you are going is just have them grind your Reamers based on Lapua 6BR Norma brass with a 312 neck and the freebore you want for your desired weight bullet, The Neck will shorten when you Neck it up, and going from 6 BR to 30 BR shrinks the neck from 1.550 to 1.518 the way I do it in multiple steps,so your 7 BR OAL may be 1.525 or little more but is something to ponder. The Lapua 6 BR case will serve you well and you will be glad you did !
yes exactly that is what I found out!I am using the brass from Brunos because I can buy it by the piece supposedly Remington is supposed to run a batch of generic 308x1.5 BR cases for the BR guys this I heard from the guys from duck creek saying maybe sometime in the fall of this year
Do yourself a favor and get all your reamers from Manson or JGS. As the specs of your new reamers will actually match your print. You can thank me later.

yeah I am getting my reamer from Dave Manson Precision they are quite good
well I gave it a lot of thought and consideration and what I intend to do with the rifle,,,, I am gonna shoot 100gr, 110gr, 115gr, 120gr, 130gr, 145gr....I am also gonna keep the reamer for a second barrel and that one will be for 145 lead gas check stuff I already have the mold and handles and smelter(it hasn't been plugged in for 10 years) ..
OHHH my goodness and I don't have 800 to give you right now!!! what a buy!!

If you are going to shoot lapua brass, then go CIP spec, it would be a mistake to do otherwise.
