7mm Barrel Life

I'm planning a 7mm build and would realy appreciate an estimated barrel life comparison between the straight .284 throated longer and the 7mm saum Rem. from those who actualy shoot them.
Swapping barrels in our neck of the woods entails enough red tape to curl any bureaucrat's toes and would be the deciding factor in the final build.

The formula described in the following link has been pretty good for my 6mmBR and 284 Shehane barrels. It does not appear to work for every cartridge but it has worked at least for those. It is also nice because you can play the "what if" games with it.

The .284 Winchesters barrel will out last a 7MM SAUM on any given day...
800 rounds out of my 7 SAUM AI show a noticeable wear in the throat, and my .284's
are barely showing noticeable wear after 1000 in one of them...

Thank you gentlemen.

I have been reading these pages for a while now and information is invaluable , also worth mentioning is the
noble way everyone conducts their responses and the
handling of other maybe newer members like myself.

Thanks to all who selflessly contribute to this site.

Listen to THE PREACHER he has some of the best information that is to be had. I have called him many times and he always puts me on the right track. He has been very helpful on most of all of my gunsmithing projects. His is always glad to help out a fellow shooter. He is a REAL ASSET TO THIS SITE. It is so nice to have people that take interest in other shooters problems. (THANKS BRUCE FOR EVERYTHING I appreciate all the help)
