7mm accuracy at 100 yards

An issue you probably have been fighting(besides flinching), Remington synthetic adl stocks had the 2 pressure points nubs near the end of the stock. It seems a flip of a coin which barrel liked pressure or free floated. In general removing the pressure points and true free floating the barrel would reduce vertical stringing. I would expect the gunsmith would alter the stock when he installs your new barrel. 1/2 inch groups should be obtainable, using the correct rear bag and good shooting form.

yeah thats what I found with my savage rifle... my 280 however is wood.. so when my dad first had the rifle he free floated the barrel. he was happy with what he got for results,, so when I inherited the gun, after an unknown thousands of rounds(a 175gr sp couldn't be made to touch the lands and still be in the case) that is why I wanted to replace the barrel. I was going to just replace the barrel and call it good. however I have changed my mind. I am going to put a Boyds AT-one stock on it and have it pillar bedded. I think dad would be happy!!
