about to build a custom 7-08 on a remington action with a 24 inch, canted land, broughton barrel. i would like to get a load that will spit a 140 grain accubond or a Barnes TTSX bullet at 3000FPS, if anybody has a load for that let me know i sure would appreciate it

My 23' Rock does 2950 with 140 moly plated Accubonds and H-414.

I was aiming for 3000 as well, but settled for the accuracy at 2950.

You'll have to find your own sweet spot.

Here's my last test. The gun weighs 7 lb. 2ozs all up with a 2.5-8 Leupold. Three groups, 2 fives and a three, 13 shots into 4 3/8'. A good test for consistancy, shoot 5, walk down and mark the target, come back, shoot 5 more, mark, and shoot again.

hey alf how many grains were you using to get it at that speed, with an extra inch on my barrel and the canted land broughton barrel,supposed to at around 30fps) that will probably get me there

Rock barrels have the same land profile.

My load is only relevant to my barrel. The bullets are moly plated, different chamber, and different powder lot. I'm a little over max in the Nosler book, but safe in my gun.

hey alf i called rock barrels and they said that they did not have the canted land barrels, broughton told me that at this time they are about the only one making them that way. They said that the canted lands would push the velocity up around 30FPS in a 24 inch barrel, i wanted a rock barrel but decided on the broughton due to the different land profile. oh well i guess rock got confused when i asked them about the canted land profile.
