My boys shoot 7mm-08s and I need some good loads for 120 grain hollow points for coyotes. I have looked in several manuals but thought I would broaden the field by asking here also. They both shoot youth model 700s with 20" barrels. Thanks for any info and have a Merry Christmas.

We use 42.8 gr of Varget behind a 120 gr Vmax ignited by fed 210m primer, accurate and will level a Coyote.

The Sierra accuracy loads on this site have never failed.
Every one, for every caliber has worked well.

Can't miss!

Man, that's a lot of proofing you done. Kudos!

I had a Rem 700V chambered in this cartridge design. With the factory barrel I would use 46.4gr of IMR-4320 and it would shoot 5/8-3/4" groups regularly. I modified the rifle (shilen trigger, hart LV contour barrel, blue printed and bedded the action into the same factory stock-which was a beautiful piece of wood) and I could shoot 120gr Nosler BTs into 1/4-3/8" groups regularly with the identical load. I took a lot of woodchucks with that set up. I used winchester 308 brass and Federal LR match primers. It was a no turn chamber. It was one of the most accurate varmint rifles I ever owned. Wish I didn't sell it.

Some 120 grain SP bullets will do double duty, being decent for deer if you know the range will be 200 yards+. Advantages: low recoil for the boys, the accuracy and trajectory they are used to for varmints and enough energy and expansion to do the job to 350 yards. Of course you need to know the range precisely for the long shots to allow for greater drop or a nice repeatable scope setting.
