7MM-08/140 Hunt VLD/Varget and Ramshot Hunter?

Jeeze, this is some hard data to find. Can any of you guys give me minimum and maximum load data for this bullet specifically?

These are the 2 powders I'd like to work with...altho Hunter may not be as good a choice as Big Game.

My brothers hunting load for his 7mm08 with 140gr VLD Hunt. is 41.5gr of Varget, Lapua brass, 210M primer, 2.860"ish coal (0.010" jump), 2,770 fps in a 22" stick.

Worked up to 43gr but best accuracy was from 40.5 to 41.5gr Varget.

No experience with Ramshot Hunter with this combo but according to Quickload prediction.....

7mm-08
140 gr Berger VLD Hunting. (1.270" bullet length)
2.800" coal

MAX = 49.5 gr Ramshot Hunter = 60,350 psi = 109% case fill = 2,904 fps from 22" bbl.

Reduce from max charge weight, work up accordingly, be safe and HAVE FUN !

RL17 will give more velocity in this combo . it's what I use .

I started around 41.0gr and worked up to 44.5gr with the varget/140VLD combo. 44.0gr shot the best for me. This was with Winchester brass and 2.200 AOL with the hornady gauge. 24" tube.

I know its not what you asked for but IMR4064 is awesome with the 140 VLD in my son's 22" 7-08.

I found 3 excellent loads today with 140 VLD's and Varget. Thanks guys.

Based on a COAL of 2.800 inches and a 24 inch barrel:
VARGET - START = 37.5gr MAX = 41.7gr APPROX VELOCITIES = 2537 to 2792 FPS
APPROX FILL RATIO = 98%

RAMSHOT HUNTER - START = 43.0 MAX = 47.8 APPROX VELOCITIES = 2521 to 2853fps
APPROX FILL RATIO = 105% (compressed at 2.800 COAL)

Jimbires is right on!
I have a 7X57 hunting rifle based on a VZ-24 action with a 24" 1940's military large ring barrel. With Barnes 140 gr TTSX I get 2800 or so fps and 1 MOA accuracy with 46.6 gr RL-17. My QuickLoad says this powder is most efficient for this cartridge, as well as My 284 WIN long range BR/F Class rifle. Do your own research on powder loads with 7-08!
